Forandringen / The transformation

It is a wll known phenomenon that the spring is muddy, something you really both see and notice when you have active dogs who spend a lot of time playing, running, exercising and just enjoying outdoors no matter what the weather is like. This might give you a couple of challenges when the happy "mud dogs" are going to a dog show.
This is Denali's transformation before the "spring show", NKKs dog show in Bergen the 9th and 10th of April 2011:

Søle = skitten hund, men en lykkelig en

Mud = dirty dog, but a happy one

I hoped the snow would take care of the worst before the shower, I wasn't so lucky

This was the story about how Denali's coat is prepared before a show, but of course it needs to be kept in good condition every day to look its best at a dog show. However something just as importen to show prepare this energetic girl for the show ring is to exercise her. The day before the show she has to go for a relatively long run to not have too much energy in the ring. If she has too much energy she jumps all over the place and it is very difficult to see her movement. In addition she won't stand quietly for very long while the judge writes the critique. Before this weeken the solution was a 15km long bicycle ride

Excellent, 1AUKK, 1BTK, CERT, CACIB, BIR

So how did the show go?
Great!
Denali showed her self in a near perfect way for her. I am so proud of her!
The judge was Finnish Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen, a judge I had heard was pretty good with Siberian Huskies. She was at least a very good one for Denali. Despite the start of the spring shedding she took all the ribbons.
Excellent, 1AUKK, 1BTK, CAC, CACIB, BOB

a new German in the house

Freke in Germany the day I went to pick him up

The 27th of February 2011 I went for a second time to Kennel Hightower's in Germany to bring home a new familly member. This time a little grey boy from the top winning bitch Hightower's See Here is Little Frosty aka Sidona, and his father being a top winning dog from Sweden. Owned, loved and bred by Wolfmark Kennel; Wolfmark Double O Seven aka Cisco.  I have hopes for the little one both in the show ring and of course as a companion for many years to come. His name is Hightower's Freke Winter Spirit, Freke for short.

Mother Sidona and three of her puppies
Hightower's Kennel has some really nice, big, dog yards for all their dogs and puppies. Below are some more photos from my 2nd visit.

This is Freke's only brother: Hightower's Fire Shadows in the Snow

This grey sister is Hightower's Flight of Fancy, she has moved to Russia

Freke is getting a good-bye bite from two sisters

This is grand-dad Siro who lived with the puppies, their mother and "aunt" Tirsa

After arriving in Norway, a completely new scene met Freke, snow, lots of snow! 70 cm of it at that time. But as any true Siberian Husky he loved to play in the snow!
